I strongly believe that a fashionista needs to break the rules every now and then. Fashion is just too much fun to take seriously! Case and point: I’m currently obsessed with mixing silver and gold jewelry.
Is this a fashion fax paus? Oh, who cares! Mixing metals is chic and makes me feel slightly rebellious. And that’s way more fun than following some outdated etiquette about matchy-matchy jewelry.
Here are a few tips to take the guesswork out of mixing metals:
- An easy place to start is to find a piece of jewelry that is both silver and gold. Then throw in a second accessory in either metal to tie it all together.
- Bracelets are my favorite accessory to mix — a silver bangle here, a gold watch there. Once you start, it’s hard to stop.
- Do you wear a wedding band or engagement ring? If so, make sure you have at least one other accessory in that matching metal, then you can add in the opposite.
- Remember: when it comes to mixing metals, make it look intentional. Go bold, have fun!
